THE WINCHESTER CLUB
MAY 2023 NEWSLETTER
We Welcome in the beautiful month of May with Bank Holidays and Events, that will go down in the History of our beautiful country. As a staunch Royalist I am looking forward to the Coronation. I am aware that not all people share my loyalty to the Crown but for those that don’t I hope you can enjoy and join in some of the celebrations with us on Coronation Day. We will be streaming the Coronation in the Churchill Ro0m. So come along and join us! In the Evening we will be entertained by a different Trio than the one previously advertised. There will be food prepared of course by Mike and Fiona and tickets are now on sale at £10 for members and £12 for Guests.
The following Saturday is the Coronation Draw which will start at 6.30pm. Thanks to Linda Jacobs and Dave Young for all their hard work in setting this up.
Directly after the Draw will be the Eurovision Party! Love it or Hate it, Take it or Leave it.....It CAN be fun. We will have a Photo Booth so charge your phones! Hopefully Eurovision Bingo...lots of laughter and plenty of boo’s. Let’s make a really good, fun, crazy evening. Let us know if you are coming, so that we can set up tables! Give your names to our Bar Staff please.....Whoops! nearly forgot bring your own nibbles!!!
COMMITTEE NEWS
Unfortunately we have to apply Bar Price increases from 1st May which will be 10p on spirits and soft drinks, 20p on all beers and 30p to 50p on wine.
We would like to remind Members that Bar Tabs are to be settled before leaving the Club and not left open.
We have implemented that Cash Back will be restricted to £20.
The new boilers have been commissioned and hopefully we will be more energy efficient.
Our Membership continues to grow and we are still receiving 20+ new applications each month.
We have asked a local plumber to provide the Club with a quote on the costing of providing a disabled toilet.
BOWLS
The new Bowls season is underway. The Green is looking really good, having been ”squared off”. Well done to Chris Ralph and his helpers! We are pleased to welcome 6 new Men Bowlers and 2 Female Bowlers this year. New members are always welcome of course......come along to ’Roll Up’ on Monday evenings, 5pm onwards.
