JULY 2023 NEWSLETTER
Apparently July got its name in honour of Julius Caesar who was born in the month! Another little gem of useless information for
you……
Committee News.
Much the same as last month! Lots of repairs in progress and pending. All of which cost so we need each and everyone of you to
frequent YOUR CLUB. I’m not suggesting that you should all become hardened drinkers, after all we now have a selection of non alcoholic beverages on sale! We are in the process of deciding on a Dress Code for the Staff and hope to implement it very shortly.
June was a good month for the Club as far as income was concerned, but of course the bills depleted the amount in no time at
all. It was agreed that Bank Holiday opening hours should be changed to 11am till 11pm. Bingo on Monday 17th July will start 30
minutes earlier due to a Wake. There were 18 new members and 2 renewals in June.
BOWLS.
News from Colin is as follows.
We are still having mixed results in The Southampton District Leagues. Our Ladies have hardly got started yet, a couple of early postponed matches. Our Men are doing better on Tuesday Evenings Won 3 Lost 3….but not so good on Thursdays. July will be a hectic month with Weekend Competitions.
Sunday 9th…..Home Friendly against our friends from Lyme Regis
Coach Full coming!!!!
Sunday 16th….Our Own ‘Presidents Special Day’ Competition.
Sunday 23rd….Our Annual ‘Australian Pairs Open Tournament’
I’m sure we all wish them luck and hope the weather is kind to them. Let us hope we have some luck with no rain on St. Swithun’s
Day which is 15th July!!!
A Few Gentle Reminders.
Please use your Club Card to pay for your drinks.
Please remember to put your Car Park Permit on display when using the Club and it is only valid when you are actually in the Club.
Finally, I am sure you are all mindful of other people especially those with mobility issues. Not all are immediately obvious!
QUIZ NIGHTS
No-one has offered to take over the Quiz Nights as yet. It was great to have Beryl back for a night. She will do a few more I am sure. So for now it's Sue H and I.

Saturday 28th October…The Jays…Another Duo New to us.
Halloween
Saturday 18th Nov………Roxy Trio. Back for the 2nd time!
Saturday 23rd Dec………2 Shae…..Club Christmas Party.
Sunday 31st Dec………Ant & Dave. Hooray Fun Night New Years Eve!
Quite a few Saturdays will be with food so keep an eye on the posters in the Lounge Bar! Don’t forget to get your tickets and order asap.
