July Newsletter
THE WINCHESTER CLUB
Newsletter - July 2024

July has arrived, and what has it brought with it, The Hat Fair (always good fun no matter how old you are). The Finals of the Euros and we can’t forget the Election, even if we are fed up with it!!!
So, for a few days we can expect hundreds of happy people making their way to the Hat Fair. So, if you are making a trip into town…allow time. Love it or hate it The Hat Fair is only a few days out of our lives!!

NEWS FROM THE COMMITTEE
Three sides of the Roof have now been renovated, which leaves the Cattle Market Car Park side to be done. The scaffolding has been taken down and we thank you for your patience and understanding when parking.

With the liberal attitude of today’s Society, it is possible that during Private Parties some attendees may be using drugs on the Club premises.
The Club Committee has a zero tolerance to the use of drugs. If any member is suspicious, then please inform the Bar Staff immediately and the offenders will then be asked to leave the Club. Appropriate signs will be displayed around the Club.

ATTENDANCE AT FUNCTIONS
We had a disappointing attendance for the Summer Ball with only 33 Tickets for Food sold. Last year the Summer Ball was in September and attendance was similar. So what can I do to get you on the dance floor?
An even bigger disappointment was THE CHARITY NIGHT IN AID OF THE STROKE ASSOCIATION. We had 54 donated prizes, including a Drill from Howdens, Electric Toothbrush from Tesco, Vouchers from Beechcroft Farm Shop and from a member who wishes to remain anonymous,
a wonderful donation of 15 brilliant prizes. So, on behalf of the Committee, I would like to say a big THANK YOU TO ALL WHO DONATED PRIZES!!! …………. PLUS A BIG THANK YOU TO THOSE OF YOU WHO WERE IN THE MARKET BAR AND TO MATT AND LISA (the only two in the Lounge Bar) your generosity amounted to almost £300.00.
I had a few helpers of course….our wonderful Rita took control of the Mic.
Linda and Sue were there sorting out tickets. My Becca helped out with the prizes. So, THANK YOU, ALL FOUR OF YOU!! We had a brilliant D.J. who gave us an outstanding selection of music and took requests. He also gave us a free evening due to the Charity. We will be having Joe back in the future!!

SNOOKER
The Snooker Room is air-conditioned, and the Fire-Door does not need to be kept open. Persistent offenders will be suspended from playing. The annual
3-Reds Competition will be held in July.
